Summary: DrupalCon has been a key gathering for the Drupal community since 2005, bringing together developers, site builders, and organizations from around the world. The DrupalFit Challenge helps site owners see how their Drupal websites perform in real-world use. After a successful first edition, the challenge returns at DrupalCon Chicago 2026, inviting the community to participate again.

DrupalCon has been at the heart of the Drupal community since the very first event in 2005.
Over the years, it has grown into a global gathering where developers, site builders, strategists, and organizations come together to share ideas, learn from real-world case studies, and shape the future of Drupal. With sessions, summits, and hands-on discussions, DrupalCons play a key role in driving innovation across the ecosystem.
Because of this, it felt like the right place to launch the DrupalFit Challenge. When we introduced it at DrupalCon Vienna, the aim was clear -- give site owners and developers a simple way to see how their Drupal sites are actually performing in day-to-day use
The response was encouraging right away. We saw submissions from across the ecosystem, from enterprise platforms to nonprofits and public-sector sites, and many participants walked away with insights they could act on.
Now, the DrupalFit Challenge returns at DrupalCon Chicago 2026. If you missed the first edition, this is another chance to take part.
In the sections below, we explain what the challenge is, how it works, and how you can submit your website.

About the DrupalFit Challenge at DrupalCon Chicago 2026

The DrupalFit Challenge at DrupalCon 2026 is focused on one clear goal -- finding the Fittest Drupal Website. Fitness is measured through a structured evaluation that looks at how well a website performs across essential quality areas.
A Drupal website is measured on four main pillars. These include-

1. Performance

The website should maintain a strong score across core web vitals like Speed Index, Largest Contentful Paint, First Contentful Paint, Total Blocking Time, and Cumulative Layout Shift. These metrics reflect how quickly a website loads and becomes usable for visitors.

2. Security

The website should be secure, use up to date software, avoid insecure cookies, and remain free from known vulnerabilities. Strong website security practices help protect users and maintain long term stability.

3. Accessibility

The website should adhere to accessibility standards and be usable by everyone. This includes readable content, accessible navigation, and compatibility with assistive technologies.

4. SEO

The website should meet on page, technical, and broader optimization requirements that support better search ranking results and visibility.
A fit website is defined as one that stands strong across all these pillars rather than focusing on only one area.

What are the Five Challenge Categories?
